Feel alone, sad, numb, depressed, struggling to get out of bed, and it seems nobody understands. You have made the right stop! I want to walk with you on your journey of healing. No matter the pain nor the struggle that life has thrown your way, let’s work to create a plan for a happier, healthier, and more meaningful life. Your present situation is not the end of your story; it’s just one of the chapters of your life. I first want to applaud you for wanting to create a change. One of my favorite quotes is, “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass it’s about learning how to dance in the rain. True happiness is not found in the ‘when’ of life; it is found within us and is within our reach, here, now, and today. If we learn to value and have a good relationship with ourselves, feel competent, then we have what we need to enjoy life right now.”
My approach to counseling is not just traditional talk therapy, but I have taken the passion that I have and over 30 years of experience in teaching the arts (music, drama, poetry, and dance) and used it as a tool for healing. Sometimes, it can be difficult for a person to verbalize their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. As an alternative, I want to create a safe space for people to express their feelings through expressive arts. Expressive arts therapy is an integrative, multimodal approach that utilizes various methods, including writing, music, visual arts, drama, and dance, to help people achieve personal growth.
As you take steps to create your own happiness, my purpose is to empower you with the skills necessary to overcome challenging obstacles, control anxious and negative thoughts, handle stress, and develop a healthy, happy, and meaningful life. I cannot wait to walk this journey with you and remember life’s struggles is a journey but not your destination.
